Brief:

To design an audio output device that will be used to launch a new portfolio of products offered by Patagonia. The device will play audio wirelessly, and incorporate an appropriate user interface to augment this functionality. The emphasise lays on the interrelationship between product design, design language, and brand.

Aluminum is the most efficient recyclable around. With the amount of energy it takes to make one virgin aluminum can, 20 recycled cans can be made, and fast – from the recycling bin to the shop shelf in just 60 days.
Aluminium never degrades and can be reused with no need to bring new materials into the production cycle.

Left in a forrest, park or on the beach this precious material however threatens wildlife and spoils public spaces for others.

The Use of recycled materials and local production is an important part of Patagonias Mission to get closer to a circular flow economy.
Bringing people closer to how recycling can work and how precious materials are aims to positivly change consumer behaviour. In this case taking your waste with you, separating it properly so it can easily be recycled.

Aluminium also refferences climbing gear such as carabiners and pitons. The speaker becomes a tool, too.

The Speaker should be small enough to be placed in a Synchilla Brest Pocket allow the user to almost subconsuasly controll it.

The guy-rope-adjuster inspired controll makes a reference to classic outdoor clothing and gear.
